About the role:
If you're a strategic communicator ready to shape the voice and visibility of our organisation, this is an opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver strategic communications that grow awareness, build trust, and deepen engagement with key audiences — from donors and stakeholders to researchers and the public.
What You'll Do:
- Lead and mentor the Communications & Engagement team
- Develop and execute strategic communications and engagement plans
- Act as brand custodian across all platforms
- Oversee internal communications and staff engagement
- Manage stakeholder relationships and reputation
- Guide digital strategy, content creation, media relations, and events
- Direct publications including Annual and Impact Reports
- Support media training for researchers
Your will work with a team of discipline experts. Your direct reports look after:
- Media relations
- Website management
- Content development
- Email marketing
- Social media
- Events
- Publications

What You'll Bring:
- 10+ years in high-performing communications teams, with 3+ years in leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, PR or related field (postgrad desirable)
- Proven leadership and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience in NFP sector (essential); medical research/healthcare (desirable)
- Strong strategic, editorial, and digital communications expertise
- Budget management experience and a collaborative mindset
An annual salary range of $157,137 to $171,961 commensurate with experience is on offer, along with salary packaging of up to $18,500 p.a., and the option of 17% superannuation.
