The MRI facility at the Florey’s Melbourne Brain Centre in Heidelberg consists of two state of the art 3-Tesla MRI scanners: a Siemens 3T Prisma and a Siemens 3T wide-bore Vida. Both scanners are equipped with high performance gradients and are supplemented with high density EEG, transcranial magnetic stimulation, in-scanner eye-tracking, prospective motion correction and a selection of DQA phantoms designed for precision quantitative imaging. The facility supports the acquisition of cutting-edge, high resolution neuroanatomical, functional and diffusion imaging, spectroscopy, quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM), EEG-fMRI as well as whole body scanning and MR guided high intensity focused ultrasound (MRgFUS). A mock MRI scanner (non-magnetised) is located on site to assist and support children and individuals that may be anxious about undergoing an MRI.

This role is suited to an enthusiastic and motivated radiographer with a moderate level of MR experience and looking to further advance their capabilities, knowledge and opportunities in the modality. A passion for MRI with a proven record of self- learning and drive will be important for your success.
You will quickly become an integral part of our small dynamic MRI team, responsible for delivering high quality research-based MRI scans to scientists and researchers of the Florey Institute and external research groups.
The candidate will be responsible for:
- Performing MRI scans on research and clinical-research participants and patients
- Accurately handling, processing and archiving MRI research data
- Completing MRI safety screening and suitability checks on all patients and individuals undergoing MRI scans, and ensuring the safety of personnel in the MRI environment
- Adhering to Florey MRI facility standards and protocols in imaging and care
- Keeping up to date with established and novel MR imaging methods and techniques
- Communicating effectively and demonstrating exceptional levels of professionalism at all times to enable a high-quality MRI service whilst fostering positive working relationships across multi-disciplinary teams at the Florey

This role attracts Salary in line with the Allied Health Professionals (Victorian Public Health Sector) Enterprise Agreement Grade 2 Radiographer ($88,467.60 - $101,691p.a commensurate with experience, pro-rata 04-0.6FTE) 2-3 days per week + Super (up to 17%) + Salary Packaging.

About you:
The successful candidate will have:
- BSc (or equivalent) in Diagnostic Radiography
- Current AHPRA registration as Radiographer / Medical Imaging Technologist
- Level 1 MRI Accreditation
- Sound MRI scanning and MRI safety knowledge and experience
- Proficiency in MRI screening and implant safety checking
- A passion for MRI with a desire to further enhance their knowledge, skills and capabilities in the modality through continued professional development and self-learning
- Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary environment
The below will be viewed favourably:
- Knowledge of established and emerging MR imaging techniques and a demonstrated interest in clinical research
- Competence in data management and the use of software products relating to imaging and MRI
- Experience with Siemens MR Imaging Platforms is preferred (but not essential as mentoring and training will be provided on the job)
- Membership of the International Society for MR Radiographers and Technologists (ISMRT)
- MRI post graduate education
