About the role:
A postdoctoral position is available within the Palmer Laboratory at the Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health, University of Melbourne to investigate the influence of brain cancer on neural signalling and plasticity. We are looking for a highly motivated and talented candidate to perform in vitro whole cell patch-clamp recordings from neurons and glioma cells within mouse and human tissue. The ideal candidate would have a strong neuroscience or quantitative science background with experience in patch-clamp electrophysiology and a proven publication record.

This position is a fixed term, full-time role until 31st December 2024. The role attracts an annual salary offer ranging from Research Officer 1 (RO1) $88,155 to Research Officer 3 (RO3) $94,631, commensurate with experience.

About you:
The successful candidate will have:
- Doctoral degree in neuroscience or related field
- Experience with patch clamp electrophysiology
- Strong background in neuroscience
- Ability to solve novel problems
The ideal candidate will have at least one of the following:
- Experience working with human tissue for patch clamp electrophysiology
- Experience with in vivo systems
- Expertise in multi-photon imaging
