About the role:
An exciting opportunity is available to join a new team as a Research Assistant within the Mental Health Theme. The successful candidate will provide laboratory assistance for research into the neural circuits of decision-making in health and disease.
The candidate will be responsible for:
- Stereotaxic viral surgeries in mice
- Daily cognitive behavioural training of mice, including minor maintenance during weekends
- Microscope work and post-processing of brain tissue
- Working under limited supervision and with other lab members
- Analysing data and presenting analyses in various formats
- Contribute to the production of published works including journal articles and conference and seminar papers, with opportunities to co-author publications

This position is a fixed-term, full-time time role (1.0 FTE). The role attracts an annual salary offer ranging from Research Assistant 1 (RA1) $69,730 to Research Assistant 5 (RA5) $84,917, commensurate with experience.

About you:
The successful candidate will have:
- Minimum Honours or Masters degree in a Neuroscience-related field
- Ability to solve problems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent record keeping and data management skills
Experience with the below is desirable, but not essential:
- Mouse behavioural training
- Stereotaxic surgery (preferred but not required)
- Coding (preferred but not required)
